On the occasion of today's International Day of Human Solidarity, the Young World Federalists have also spoken out.
"Today is International Human Solidarity Day. We should never forget that we are all part of one big family. In the world, just as in a family, there are conflicts. We have no choice but to solve them in order to live together in peace.Let's place the interaction of people and nations in the world on the same principles that we value in any society: justice, democracy, and solidarity.
Only United in Diversity can we solve existential, global problems like poverty, war, and climate change."

I had already referred to this day of remembrance last year, emphasising that solidarity must be more than mere humanitarianism.
At that time, the extent of the COVID 19 pandemic could not yet be foreseen. In this context, the next few months will show whether the human family is ready for solidarity, whether justice will prevail in the distribution of vaccines, or whether the rich countries will take advantage of the poorer ones. This will be an indicator of future developments.
